Meet Gabriel Gate – book signing and book purchase event
Monday March 29 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm$40.00
Celebrity Chef Gabriel Gatè has generously agreed to provide this ” meet and greet” opportunity for his fans in our region. He invites you to bring along any of his cook books on your bookshelves for signing – or you have the opportunity to purchase his cook books at this event. We will be serving a glass of Grandin from the Loire Valley with canapés. It is indeed an honour and privilege to have celebrity Chef Gabriel Gatè at my French restaurant in Bungendore. Please join me and warmly welcome a colleague, a mentor and friend.
Chef Gabriel Gaté was born in the Loire Valley of France where his father grew all the family’s fruit and vegetables and made wine from the small family vineyard, Gabriel learned the joys of eating and cooking from his mother and grandmother who were excellent cooks. As a young man, Gabriel had the chance to learn to cook from some of the finest French chefs (he worked in two three Michelin-star restaurants) before coming to Australia in 1977 with his Melbourne-born wife, Angie. He is the author of twenty-three cookbooks, including ‘French Cuisine for Australians’. Gabriel has presented cookery shows on television for the past 40 years, most recently he produced and presented ‘Taste Le Tour with Gabriel Gaté’, a series of gourmet segments on French food and wine screened on SBS during the Tour de France bicycle race in July each year, which lasted 15 seasons.
This year, Gabriel Gaté celebrates 50 years of working as a French chef with an international reputation, a cookery author, television presenter and cookery teacher. Gabriel’s enormous contribution to Australia’s culinary landscape helped pave the way for chefs just like me. I am very grateful for his work as Ambassador of French cuisine in Australia.
